Letter From the Editor

Each spring we ask our readers, “What’s the best? Who’s the best? Where’s the best?” and you deliver, telling us the best of everything from florists to margaritas. This year’s The Best of the Best list features 1,150 winners of the readers’ votes in seven categories: shopping, dining, health and wellness, entertainment, places and faces, home and services.

This issue also brings you into three of the most luxurious homes around Oklahoma, and we hope you’ll be inspired. As usual, we also bring you plenty of stories about fabulous Oklahomans and the spectacular things they do. This month we talk about the origins of scouting in Oklahoma; you’ll meet a lovely woman making a difference at Oklahoma State University; you’ll hear about a talented artist in Perry, and a coach for the New York Yankees who hails from Fort Cobb.

In our Taste section, you’ll get to learn about fluffiest biscuits in Edmond and Tally’s new location in Tulsa – with a doo-wop vibe and loads of tasty comfort food. And since we’re in the throes of the hottest days in Oklahoma each year, we also bring you some ideas to entertain the kids, plus advice on avoiding heat stroke or heat exhaustion, in our Life and Style section.

We hope you enjoy this month’s issue of Oklahoma Magazine. Watch for our August edition, where we bring you an in-depth feature on education in Oklahoma and bring you up to speed on the progress and prospects of Native American tribes around the state.
