Oct. 19 event offers guests a chance to browse artwork, watch Oklahoma-bred horses

OKLAHOMA CITY (Oct. 9, 2018) – The best of Oklahoma will be on display on Oklahoma Classics night at Remington Park. The evening’s horse racing is solely for Oklahoma-bred thoroughbreds, making it a night for Oklahoma horses to shine. Oklahoma Classics takes place from 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 with the first race set for 7 p.m.

Oklahoma Classics is the richest night of racing for Oklahoma-bred thoroughbreds with eight stakes races worth more than $1 million in total purse money. This year, Shotgun Kowboy is expected to attempt winning his third title in the Classics Cup. Shotgun Kowboy is also a former Oklahoma Derby champion, a race that features many of the nation’s top 3-year-old thoroughbreds.

“Oklahoma has bred some well-respected thoroughbreds and Oklahoma Classics is the perfect stage on which to show off the level of quality and talent developed in our state,” said track announcer Dale Day. “This has been an exciting event for the Oklahoma racing community since it began in 1993, and we look forward to another great night of racing.”

Classics night is also an opportunity for art enthusiasts to get to know local horse racing. Remington Park is partnering with Red Earth for the Oklahoma Classics Arts Festival. The arts show will feature approximately 20 artists displaying a variety of American-Indian, Western, modern and pop art in a variety of mediums including paintings, pottery, sculptures, baskets, jewelry and more. All work is available for purchase and will be displayed on the Clubhouse Level throughout the evening. Red Earth will raffle items and other prizes for the duration of the show.

Attendees can also see live sculptures and live painting in the paddock area as well as enjoy live music from Robin Brooks throughout the evening.

Remington Park is located at 1 Remington Place. For more information about Oklahoma Classics and other track promotions, go to www.RemingtonPark.com.
