Tulsa is more than 1,000 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, but we manage to become connoisseurs of those bivalve mollusks on the half-shell nonetheless. Oysterfest 2014 is the first of what some hope to be an annual celebration of “oysters, Guinness and great live music.” Area restaurants lend their expertise with all sorts of dishes, including oyster po’ boys, but you can bet there will be plenty in the raw to go around. Oysterfest happens at the Guthrie Green, 111 E. Brady St., Tulsa, beginning at noon Saturday, March 15. Event will last until food runs out. Proceeds from the event go to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. For more, visit www.guthriegreen.com.
