Stephen Prescott, MD, became the ninth president of the OklahomaMedical Research Foundation in the spring of 2006. At OMRF, Prescott has initiated the largest campus expansion in the foundation’s 65 ‐ year ‐ history. In 2011, OMRF completed the first phase of construction of a research tower that, when fully occupied, will nearly double the size of OMRF’s laboratory facilities and will add 150 scientists, technicians and support personnel to OMRF’s current 450 ‐ person staff. The new research tower is a one ‐ of ‐ a ‐ kind “green” facility that has earned gold ‐ level LEED certification. It is home to OMRF’s Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence, which treats more than 2,000 MS patients while also serving as a beachhead for OMRF’s rapidly expanding clinical research platforms. The tower is also home to the Samuel Roberts Noble Cardiovascular Institute, where OMRF has assembled a team of internationally recognized cardiovascular biologists to study the mechanisms underlying the biology of blood clotting, hypertension and heart disease.
