Description

OAS Exotic Bird Fair

The term "parrot" refers to a group of gregarious birds which includes lorikeets, parakeets, and macaws. These brightly colored tropical birds sport brilliant plumage, and are mostly found wild in dense forests in the Southern Hemisphere. Some of these intelligent birds have IQs equal to a 6-year-old child. And they are not only intelligent, but beautiful as well and make wonderful, loyal pets.  When in captivity, some species have the ability to mimic speech, so watch your words when in front of these very smart birds.

If you want to learn more about parrots, finches, canaries or other exotic birds, or to purchase supplies for those you may already have in your home, bring your family to the semi-annual Spring Fling Exotic Bird Fair at the Green Country Event Center on Saturday, MARCH 2, 2013 from 9:00 to 5:00 at 12000 East 31st Street, Tulsa

There will be all kinds of birds, from lively finches and singing canaries to large Macaws, along with all the things it takes for them to be safe and healthy.

NEW PRICINGIt only costs $5 per person, which includes an entry for the $50 cash drawing.  Children under 10 get in free.

Vendors from around the country provide a variety of bird species and supplies, making the Tulsa Semi-Annual Bird Fairs in March and September among the largest events of this type in the region.  Club members will provide educational materials, answer questions and offer tips on the breeding and care of bird pets.  Bring the family.  Then consider joining the OAS for our monthly meetings where you can have fun while you learn about what to expect when a bird becomes a pet in your home.

The Oklahoma Avicultural Society (OAS), a not-for-profit Tulsa-based bird club, has been serving the needs of the avian community in Eastern Oklahoma, parts of Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas since the late 1980s.  In its continuing effort to promote responsible companion bird ownership and education, the OAS meets monthly at the Hardesty Regional Library, and uses proceeds from these bird fairs to bring in nationally recognized experts.  Everyone is invited to come to our meetings, especially families.
