Hopituy will feature six types of Hopi kachina figures as depicted in more than 175 objects from woodcarving, basketry and painting. Within the cultural context they lend to each other, and by exploring the use of color, motifs and geometric shapes as relevant to each type, this exhibition examines the aesthetics of these figures from a perspective that is uniquely Hopi, or Hopituy.
Exhibit is at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, Norman.
Regular viewing hours: 10 a.m-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday (open until 9 p.m. Friday), 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
