For over 60 years, singer Johnny Mathis’ suave ballads helped keep alive the dominance of rock in popular music, and his signature style propelled him to stardom. Mostly known as a ballad artist, Mathis’s discography covers a variety of music genres like jazz, pop, Brazilian music, Spanish music, soul music, rhythm and blues and much more. He began his music career singing in a jazz band. While in college at San Francisco State Univeristy, Mathis won a recording contract after an audition in 1955. Two years later, he scored his first No. 1 hit with “Chances Are” and became known for his distinct rendition of popular Christmas songs. With a span of hits in every decade, Mathis has received the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ Lifetime Achievement Award, and is a member of the Pop Music Hall of Fame and the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame. In honor of his illustrious career, Mathis tours the U.S. to perform his greatest hits. Johnny Mathis performs at the Winstar World Casino at 8 p.m. Tickets began at $55. For more information
